How To Tell If Timing Belt Has Been Replaced

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm thinking about picking up a 98 GS400. It has 98k miles on it. and it's coming from an auto auction....service records are probably not available.

I was wondering if there is any way to tell if the timing belt has already been replaced. I would hate to pay the big $$ if was already done past 10k miles.

Any pointers?

Thanks

There should be a sticker on the timinng belt cover stating where and when it was replaced. You can try having the dealer run the vin# and bring up service history. :D
