Has anyone replaced their starter themself on a 1st gen LS400? Tell me what I'm getting into. Also what part did you go with? Mine is getting noisy. The solenoid is hanging up a bit. I would never just replace the solenoid. I hear you have to take the intake off. Whats up with that?

When the starter went out on my aunts 1990 LS400 back in 2001, it cost my uncle $1000 to get it replaced. That was the cheapest place in Raleigh that they could find.

Good luck.
