Hey Guys,

I'm looking and hoping for some good info on a 2002 GS 430. This is going to be for my father, so I'm doing all the dirty work for him. Last week we both went and test drove the 300 first and then the 430 second. The 300 didn't seem it hadenough power. When we both drove the 430, we both fell in love with it. It had the navi and power. I wanted to trade in my BMW for it right there and then. Anyways, being a former Supra owner, it felt good being behind some power again. So what I'm asking if anyone can tell me any problems anyone had that my father should worry about. Everyone I know, swear by these GS series cars. So any info whould be great.

Thanks

Chris

How many miles on it? Do you have maintenance records? Is it a CPO car from Lexus? All these will factor in on problems, or not. How it was taken care of is Key!!! But it is a great car!!!!!!!

My wife had an 03 GS430 and i just bought another 05 GS430. We only traded in the 03 GS because it had 80k miles on it earlier this year.

I didn't have any problem with the GS430. I love it B)

Hey Racechris we're neighbors.

I have a 2000 GS400 platinum milennium edition with navi at 96,000 miles. I had a frozen caliper once. Other than that no problems and it still has an amazing very fun amount of zip.

Hey Neighbor,

I was just wondering what your getting to a full tank of gas on your 400. Also let me know what your averaging for city and highway. If anyone can please let me know what they get on there 300, 400 and 430's that would be great.

Thanks

I've gone 425 highway miles on a full tank of premium 92 [ that is all I burn ] and the low fuel light never came on until the next morning on my way to fill up 98 gs300 k&n filter and 3 in.straight pipe intake mod, transmission cooler and fresh oil change. B)

Anyone with any 400 or 430's with some good gas mileage?

My GS400 gets about 14 city and 20 highway according to my NAV screen.

Unfortunately, I travel about 90% city so I don't ever get to see the 20's :( . With 90% city, I get about 15 MPG

I've got 325 miles on this tank and still above 1/4 or 5 gal remain. I'd say about 23mpg on a 2000 GS4.

01 GS 430, 50,000 miles on it, totaly 100% stock. Last 15 tank fulls have averaged 22.4 MPG. 65% freeway, 35% city. 92 Octane Shell V-Power is all I run in it. :)

Thanks Guys...I think the GS 430 will be added to the driveway soon with the BMW and Audi.

Any other good things you guys have to say, please share so I feel comfortable when we get the car...

Chris,

I have a 2000 GS400 with 100K miles and I get great mileage on the highway.

I consistently get about 25 MPG and even got 27 once. The GS is basically stock except for the Magnaflow mufflers and I always use synthetic oil.

There may be some marginal advantage on the highway for the GS300 but not much since the 400 cruises at 75 MPH at only 2400 RPMs. Its amazing that a five year old car with 100K can still do 0-60s in under 6 seconds, 150 MPH top end, and l gets 25 MPG. If you have the money for the initial investment go for the 400/430 and you’ll have that balls-to-the walls performance when entering a freeway, passing someone, or any time you want to feel it.

The only maintenance that I have done other than Tranny/differential fluid replacement and cooling system are oil/filter and air filter changes.
