RakNaks Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 I am mainly a BMW, Mercedes and 4runner expert when it come to brake repair. I just have a simple question prior to doing and seeing the SUV. What is the procedure to remove the rotors. From experience of the 4runner the rotor just comes off when the caliper is unbolted. I see on the forum people have had some difficulty. Knowing this is a 4 wheel drive truck there must be more than the basic setup. Is it simple as removing the dust cap, unbolting the hub, unbolt the rotor and changing seals?? Just wanted anybodys input. :P Thank Rick
Jim_Chow Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 It's basically the same as on older LC's and pre 95 4runners/minis...same 54mm socket is used, too. The main difficulty is removing those little cone washers that hold the 4wd driveplate or outer freehub (like on the LC60) off. I use a thick brass drift and 3 lb sledge...gets them off in 1-2 whacks.
