But it has been sitting for a couple yrs i think. I will know more about on friday. PLease give me you professional tips and suggestion. Should i buy if the price is cheap enough. WHat is cheap fpr one of these? Please help i could go take pics this weekend if you want me too. PLease a kansas man. I would love you help.

If you need reliable transportation and don't want to be faced with major repairs then buying a 15 year old ES250 or any other Toyota that is being sold for a low price is extremely risky. One guy here did that and it cost him $5,000 to make the car roadworthy again.

The good 15 year old Toyotas are those that have owned and driven gently by middle aged to old people who spent a considerable amount of money on regular preventive maintenance and have the service records to prove it. They will typically want an ABOVE average price for the car because they know the car is worth it.

The ES250 V6 is a non-interference design so if the timing belt breaks the engine usually will not be damaged.

My ES250 was bought for $4000, with a $800 engine overhaul done before the sale. Had/has 128k, really good condition interior and a couple blemishes outside. Runs well, but gas mileage is not what i expected for such a light car. Smooth ride, built like a tank but only weighs around 2900lb. Rides very poshly, lots of dampening, almost feels as if its floating kind of.

Chicks don't dig it. :cries: :pirate:

That's why i have the 4Runner.

Ok heres's the deal I can buy it for $300.00. Then i need to fix it is it worth the 300 bucks. I will find the miles later. The car has been sitting for around 4 months so bad idea or not?

It is worth $300.00 even if it doesn't run.It sounds like it will be a project car if you have the time and $ go for it. Take the vin# and have a lexus dealer run it for you to see when the last time it was serviced at a dealer and try to dig up any other maintenance records. Look it over carefully [ oil leaks, struts, suspension etc...] the little stuff you can probably do yourself and save $. Have a reputable mechanic look it over first. Good Luck.

It's worth $300 plus the money to fix it. The build quality puts it above volvo's saabs and audi's of the period.

I hate to say it, but honestly. If you like performance, I would go for something late 80's, european, and factory turbocharged. Same size cars, about 80% of the build quality, a thousand times easier to add performance.

If you have no performance aspirations, the 250 will suit you well.

Hi! I noticed you have a es250. I have had one for 2 years, and have had to fix parts of the power steering four different times. Everything else is great on this vehicle, but the power steering seems to be a chronic problem. Any advice you can give me I would appreciate. I am ready to give up on her even tho it is probably the best car I ever had... by the way, yeah, the car has 230,000 miles!

PS: I am also having problems passing emmissions test...
