wwest Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 From the RX400h owners manual. Page 418 left column, top... "Driving conditions where the steering wheel must be turned frequently may cause an overload to the electric power steering system. The system will reduce assistance for some time to prevent the power steering from overheating. In this case, you may feel some resistance when turning the steering wheel though it is not a malfunction." And some of you didn't believe the RX330 AWD system timed out after 45 seconds to prevent the ABS pumpmotor from overheating.
katzjamr Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Interestingly there was a post in another forum of someone losing all power steering and on another site that tests new cars they lost their "power steering computer module" in the long term test vehicle on the 400h The SUV is in the shop for the part that is backordered about a week.
RX400h Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 I recently drove up the coast to Monterey and as those of you who have done this know, the route looks like a bunched-up snake - lots of left and right curves. We never had any issues with the steering and I doubt we'll be entering in any slalom contests with the 400 any time soon........
