xsean415 Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 hi guys, im new to the forum, i just purchased a 92 sc300 5spd and the thermostat needs to be replaced. I called a random shop and was quoted 120 to replace it. Does this sound like a reasonable price? Is there a write up on the forum on how to do it yourself or do any of you guys recommend any shops in the socal orange county area? thank you for your time sean
bigmalik00 Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 I am not sure about the difference.... but If the 300 engine is close to the 400 engine the thermostat is easy to change.... It is only two bolts to loosen.. and you just twist it out.... I am far from a mechanic...and I changed mine.. hi guys, im new to the forum, i just purchased a 92 sc300 5spd and the thermostat needs to be replaced. JDOwen2 Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 $120.00 :whistles: That guy must be really proud of his work. The following is for a 400 but similar, you should be able to apply this to your 300 thermostat If your timid I'll do it for $100-parts included :D

AppleJack Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Hello - Anyone ... - In the Thermostat assembly in the above link - what is the Nut on the top of the housing for???
AppleJack Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Really? I just used the reservoir tank and kept adding coolant slowly. It took a few days of checking and re-topping if off though ... whatever works I guess...
