CPO MD Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 I just picked up my 02 rx300 CPO. Why is there an "X" on the headlight plastic? It looks new!
jbarhorst2 Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 I guess I need more info. What do you mean there is an "X" on your headlight?
CPO MD Posted June 25, 2005 Author Posted June 25, 2005 On the clear plastic of the "fog lamp and directional" bottom peice, at the end corner there is painted on a blue X about 3/4 inches wide.
jgreg0912 Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Most dealerships have vendors that come by and do repairs on their lot, such as small dent repairs, windshield repair, interior repair, and paint touch-up. These vendors will sometimes put a small mark on the headlight so if they come to the lot every week they will see their mark and will not inspect the vehicle again. Jerry

Jerry ← hmm, that's interesting. i heard of another guy who bought a CPO RX300 and had the same "X" on one of his headlights. he thought it was because they replaced the lens cover of that one headlight, and not the other.
rxinmo Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 I have the same mark on mine - it's a CPO also. Be interesting to see if there is more to this.
lexus411 Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 Lexus HQ sends an inspector to check CPO cars to make sure they meet standards. Must likely this mark was from an inspection so he knows he not inspecting the same car as last time.
jbarhorst2 Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 It would really surprise me if a Lexus inspector was putting a mark on the headlight plastic. Not saying it's impossible, but I would be surprised. I would hope that they would have a bit more common sense than to mark up a vehicle on the lot. I wonder if we'll ever really know what the true reason is? Tom
waterrat Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 This might seem like a basic suggestion but did you ask your dealership what the "X" on the headlight means?
Dave_02RX300 Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 I think they do mark them in some secret way... My CPO 2002 RX300 (got it about 2 mo. ago) had a small, 1/8" diameter BLUE dot stuck on the left rear tail light. On the clear plastic part of the light. We noticed all the cars on the lot had that. I'm not sure what it means. When we got the car home, we removed that blue dot sticker. It was about as big as this smiley face.
Unlisted Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 when I was with Lexus they would randomly check 5 certified pre-owned cars every 2 weeks or so to make sure all required work was done. They mark them so they dont double check.
