LRP_LS400 Posted May 30, 2005 Posted May 30, 2005 the chrome and gold emblems and grille part are fading is there a cheaper way to fix the fading or do i need to get them all replated or something?
razahyde Posted May 30, 2005 Posted May 30, 2005 try lexus dealer it should run you around 100 for the whole set if u want it in gold
Lexls Posted May 30, 2005 Posted May 30, 2005 Yes, just buy a new set. Pull the old ones off and put the new ones on. Done.
LRP_LS400 Posted May 30, 2005 Author Posted May 30, 2005 what about the triming around the front grille
flanker271 Posted May 30, 2005 Posted May 30, 2005 Go to your local hobby shop and buy a bottle of gold paint for model airplanes. It must be Gloss Enamel type paint to be water resistant. Don't get the Acryllic paint. I did this two years ago and the emblems are still shiny. A bottle costs about $2.67. :Edit: WalMart carries them too
flanker271 Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 Its in very small 1/4 FL oz rectangular glass bottles with white metal screw on caps. You can find them at WalMart toy section where they sell plastic model kits. People in the hobbyshop should be able to help you too. This paint really works, and it saves you the hassle of having to rip off the old emblem. The paint brand is called "Testors"...besure to get Enamel type not Acryllic type.
razahyde Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 guys im sure if u own a lexus your not going to buy model kit paint for it are you i mean if u can afford a lexus $100 for an OEM gold kit from the dealer shouldnt cost you much

SKperformance Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 For $100 that is ridiculasly cheap if you can get it. the last kit i priced for an LS which was 4 wheel caps exhaust tips radio antenna nut front and rear "L" LS 400 script LEXUS script and the whole metal bezel for the front grille was almost $500 with all oem toyota parts gold plated and clear coated the parts alone would cost more than $100
razahyde Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 SK i can get the gold front and back L, LS400, and Lexus from sewell for around $100 heres the list i got from moe (grand LS 4) 7531150050-EMBLEM, RADIATOR GRI $15.03 7543150040-EMBLEM, LUGGAGE COMP $13.00 7544150030-PLATE, LUGGAGE COMPT $10.88 7544150040-PLATE, LUGGAGE COMPT $14.69 7544150060-PLATE, LUGGAGE COMPT $16.31 8639620030-NUT, ANTENNA (if needed) $8.56
SKperformance Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 No , i didn;t mean to sound like i was doubting you , i mean for that price it is unbeatable ,so he should go for it. Of course the grille surround bezel all 4 wheel caps with emblems and tips are a bit more but shouldn't make a 400 difference.
GRAND_LS 4 Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 SK i can get the gold front and back L, LS400, and Lexus from sewell for around $100 heres the list i got from moe (grand LS 4)7531150050-EMBLEM, RADIATOR GRI $15.03 7543150040-EMBLEM, LUGGAGE COMP $13.00 7544150030-PLATE, LUGGAGE COMPT $10.88 7544150040-PLATE, LUGGAGE COMPT $14.69 7544150060-PLATE, LUGGAGE COMPT $16.31 8639620030-NUT, ANTENNA (if needed) $8.56 ← Those prices are for the Silver Emblems. I sold my Gold ones for silver ones because I hated the Gold package.
