Took the car in to the dealership they tightened the fuel cap...said it would be ok.....light came on again a little while later.......we're due an emissions test soon so any advice appreciated........have already tried tightening the fuel cap...... cruznroadking Posted March 18, 2005 Share Posted March 18, 2005 A loose gas cap will turn on the check engine light. If the cap is loose gas vapors are leaking & when this is detected the check engine light turns on. If the light came back on maybe the gas cap gasket is worn & it's still leaking or you may have something going on. Have the dealer recheck for trouble codes to determine what the problem is.
