SCdriver Posted March 1, 2005 Share Posted March 1, 2005 Get the carfax history and bring it to Lexus for their pre owned inspection $90 and get their service history. A nice 1993 with around 72,000 mi just sold on ebay for $7,500. You have to check the R12 AC for leaks as well as the power steering for leaks. Was the timing belt and all lexus required services done? May need new bushings and shocks etc. If it isn't in good shape there are plenty of SC400s for sale. Take your time. FYI, The 1994 has the advantage of having the R32 AC system and dual airbags. The 1996 got the 260hp engine and the 1998 model got the 290hp engine. Check that the dash lights work, esp the speedometer needles and that the radio/cd and all speakers work and take it for a good test drive ;highway and city potholes. then negotiate the price when you know what needs fixin or move on to another one.
