Just Bought A Sc300

hey i just bought a SC300 and i was wondering of possible engine swaps and aftermarkets/lexus performance parts avialable. the most obvious would be the jav spec supra engine form japan only difference is the twin turbo and about 100 horsepower right? but the main problem is the car i bought is automatic... i talked to a engine guy who works at a shop through a friend and he told me that he could get the the 2jt and install it along with switcing it to the manual transimission that comes with the engine for 2900$ from my understanding the engine alone costs about that price... and is it even possible to switch over the transmission he said hes done it before a couple times on a lexus and all the time with other cars... well anyway just wondering for some opinions on what performance parts i could by for now untill about a month or two from know that wont have to be changed out with the engine.. if i swap... and there opinion on this swap for the price which seems great to me.

Correction: that would be the j-spec not jav spec, and 2jz-gte not 2jt. The twin turbo engine can be bought here in the states also and there is no diff. but in the make of the turbos. $2900 seems fishy b/c the $ of the 2jz-gte can be around $3000 not including install plus the cheapest I have "ever" found a manual tranny is for $2500 not including install. install is not cheap b/c you also need a 2jz-gte wiring harness and computer wich are expensive also if they don't come with the engine already. There is a little bit more involved, but the point is that I think you have been mislead. Do a little bit of research on these topics as others have inquired about this also and there have been numerous responses in other threads.

To my understaning when i talked to the guy he told me the price i got is only because im a freind of a good freind of his... still though when he told me it does seem real cheap thats why i thought id ask.... but anyway when i talked to him he told me that he gets the front clip from japan and that includes the manual transmission and ecu... and he would purchase everything else he would need i guess gear box clutch assembly maybe a couple other things??? not really sure i want to research this more of course but if the man is serious then this would be a great price right???? he said the engine wont have more then around 45000 miles.... and i could see it and even watch him do all the work and put it in i mean im no machanic but that a nice way of being sure its done correctly... think its worth taking the chance i can come up with the money in a couple months....

still sounds fishy but if you can get that price then for sure bro, do it. But as far as i know everything is usually at least double what you're saying. That is why everything sounds so fishy. The info you had recieved sounds like it was from someone who didnt know $h!+ about lexus' or supras. You can get the J-spec engine and tranny but everything doesnt bolt right on. You have to have some rear end pieces from a supra to make it work along with some cutting and welding. All in all its a pretty good time job. not toooo dificult though... happy hunting
