mig25 Posted June 16, 2003 Posted June 16, 2003 My LS400 1990 does not have a CD, the dash looks nice the way it is, but... :( no CD player. How do I add a CD player without compromissing the nice looks of the original dash?
SKperformance Posted June 16, 2003 Posted June 16, 2003 buy a lexus deck and changer but you may need a wiring harness if not prewired
SKperformance Posted June 16, 2003 Posted June 16, 2003 oh yah also nackamichi makes there decks with a small wide green screen close to the lexus but they are a bit pricey but then you would need a custom face plate to make it fit but they were the first to make the 6 disk indash deck
mig25 Posted June 16, 2003 Author Posted June 16, 2003 Is it possible to buy the changer only and mount it in the trunk? Is there any wires to do that? if so, can I just go ahead and by a pioneer changer and hook it up? Thanks guys !
SKperformance Posted June 16, 2003 Posted June 16, 2003 no it won't work go to a stereo store and ask tehm to show you
PIONEERSUBY Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 YES THE CONVERSION TO FACTORY CD CHANGER CAN BE DONE. THE ONLY HARD PART IS YOU HAVE TO GET A CUSTOM CD CHANGER CABLE SINCE YOUR CAR WAS NOT PREWIRED IF THE RADIO DOES NOT HAVE A CD BUTTON. IF NO CD BUTTON THE ID NUMBER ON THE CASSETTE FLAP SAYS P623 OR P624 AND MODEL NUMBER IS KEX-9741ZT WHICH HAS NO M IN THE MODEL NUMBER WHICH IS MBUS CD CHANGER SYSTEM INDICATOR.............................................IF YOU WANTED TO INSTALL A FACTORY SYSTEM YOU ARE LOOKING FOR RADIO MODEL KEX-M9741ZT WITH THE ID NUMBER ON THE CASSETTE FLAP DOOR OF P625 OR P626. THEN YOU ALSO NEED THE FACTORY CHANGER CDX-M9741ZT AND YOUR IN BUSINESS. THE PLUG AT RADIO END IS 14 PIN AND AT CHANGER END THE STANDARD TOYOTA 2 CONNCTORS OF 10 PIN AND 6 PIN WHICH ARE EASY TO GET. BUT THE RADIO END IS HARDER TO FIND. ONCE YOU HAVE THE 2 CONNECTORS THEN YOU MAKE A 14 FOOT WIRE LOOM TO RUN FROM THE CD CHANGER PORT ON YOUR NEW CD BUTTON RADIO TO THE TRUNK. PLUG IT IN AND IT WORKS. THERE ARE NO POWER CONNECTIONS NEEDED THEY ARE IN THWE CD CHANGER CABLE.............................................................. A STEREO SHOP WOULD LAUGH AT YOU SAME AS THE DEALER IF YOU WANTED TO PUT IN THE FACTORY CHANGER. THEY WOULD SAY IT WOULDNT BE POSSIBLE BECAUSE YOUR NOT PREWIRED.THE STEREO SHOP WILL TRY TO SELL YOU FM MODULATED CHANGER WHICH DOESNT EVEN TURN THE AMP ON TO HIGH FIDELITY LIKE HAPEENS WHEN YOU PUSH THE CD BUTTON ON THE FACTORY CD BUTTON RADIO. .THE RADIOS GO FOR 150.00 THE CHANGERS 150.00. THE CABLE WOUJLD BE WORTH 150.00 ALSO IF SOMEONE WOULD BMAKE IT FOR YOU. SO IT WOULD TAKE 450.00 TO SWITCH IT OVER. TO FACTORY PIONEER SYSTEM THAT CAME ON THE CARS AS AN OPTION WHEN NEW. THE SYSTEM HAD A LIST PRICE OF $3500.00 WHEN NEW SO CERTAINLY BETTER THAN A 199.00 STEREO SHOP AFTERMARKET AND IS WORTH THE INVESTMENT...........

Any aftermarket CD changer will work with your factory radio using an FM cable adapt. Go to a local stereo shop and ask for some information on this method. You will save yourself a few $$ as well.
