hi all. i just purchased a gs about a month ago and i am have been trying to figure out what springs i should buy for it. the setup with the wheels i want to go with is 20x 8.5 or 9 with 245/35r20 up front and 20x 9.5 or 10 with 275/30r20 in the rear. i want to know which springs will drop the car so that the fenders meet right at the tires or slightly cover the tires. i was thinking of going with the eibach pro kit, which drop the car and inch, but i don't think i will get the drop that i wan't. the h&r and tein springs drop will drop the around 1.5 inches. will that be enough of a drop or should i just spend a lot of money, which i really don't want to do, and get a coilover setup. any and all comments and opinions are welcomed.

Congrats on the car. I can't help on the springs as I don't have personal experiences with some of them. Some of the nicer riding ones that gives about 1.5" - 1.7" are the Espelir and the Daizens. I had L-Tuned which gives a little over 1". I only had 18s when I had the L-Tuned but I know people with the L-Tuned shocks/springs on 20s and they won't give you the look you want.

If you want the adjustability to try different looks, coilovers are the way to go.

Since you are going that low, make sure you get the right offset with the wheels to minimize rubbing. You will get some rub as it is the nature of 20s but with the wrong offsets, you are asking for a load of trouble. :)

thank you for the help. i've been doing a lot of thinking over the past day and have decided im probably gonna get something with a 1.5 inch drop. i know the offset is critical when lowering the car with 20s so i will definately take time to get that correct.

if it isn't asking too much can anybody that has pics of their gs dropped with 20s please post a pic. and could you also please indicate how much of a drop it is.

I noticied that you are in the bay area and I assume that it's SF Bay Area as I'm over on the coast. I was wondering why you are going with the 20" wheels and what type of driving you do with your car. I've got a 98 GS 400 with Intraxx springs and sway bars with KYB shocks, it lowered it a good 2" and still rides fairly well the only thing it needs are shocks with more rebound dampning in the rear to control some pitching in high speed corners..sorta wishing I went to the extra expense and went with the coilover setups and there seem to be a few choices for those too( Thinking about taking it to a couple of the open road race/timing events in Nevada this year) I'm running 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 ADR M Sports with Michelin Pilot ps2's 245/35 and 275/30. The 20's will be a really tall combo and as I found out will hurt your 0-60 times because of the change in the diameter in the wheel. Oh well hit me back if you want to meet up sometime and do you know of any local Lexus clubs..dlb56@sbcglobal.net

Here is mine with 20s. I can't really tell you how much it is dropped since I have coilovers. I can tell you that it measures 26 5/8" from the ground to the top of the wheel well (including the black trim), meaning I measured from the ground to the bottom of the black trim and not the fender itself.

What are the specs on your rims & tires? Do you have a shot of the wheel so i can see if it's flush with the fender? I am looking into getting new rims & tires but haven't decided on 19s or 20s. I am also looking at what offset you are using?

i'm not going to be doing any type of driving that requires speed and handling. i'll just be using my car as a daily driver from home to work or school.

Here is one that hopefully will help you out.

The specs are:

iForged Techniks brushed alum face, polished lips on Nitto 555

Front: 20x8.5 +43 245/35

Rear: 20x10 +38 275/30

I had to shave the fender to get the rear to fit. +38 front, +42 rear would probably be better offsets if you wanted flushed and no fender mods.
