lfein
'97 Lexus ES300 52K. Diagnosed and repaired with help from this forum and the Toyota forum. Although neither the Haynes manual or the codes provided by the code reader that I purchased had the definition of the "1411" code. A kind person on the Toyota Newsgroup {http://toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=15&t=28920} gave me a link to the Toyota trouble codes {http://www.troublecodes.net/Toyota/} and "1411" lead me directly to the EGR Valve Position Sensor. I measured the resistance and sure enough it was out of spec. This sensor was simple item to locate, test, and replace for $30. It seems to be a "dealer only" item. I wonder what would have happened if I took it to the dealer? Any comments. Anyway, thanks to all those who took their time to help me. SKperformance
usually it is the whole egr is just filled with carbon causing bad idle and stuttering usually just cleaning it out will rectify the problems associated with it
