VBdenny Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 My wife left the Lexus at the airport in Newark for 4 days. When she got back, the battery was dead. They jumped it and it has been fine. It is only 2 1/2 years old. I'll put a new one in but will I encounter any problems with the alarm? I know the radio SEC code so that isn't a problem, just wondering about the other stuff.
obergc Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 I have had my battery disconnected so many times I've lost count on my 93 LS and the only thing that I lose is the radio presets and the seat and outside rear view mirror memories.
obergc Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 oops, forgot that. My wife and I use the same wheel setting so it's not moving between memory settings.
VBdenny Posted December 23, 2004 Author Posted December 23, 2004 Thanks for the info. I was just wondering about the security system.
Lexls Posted December 24, 2004 Posted December 24, 2004 For a 90 LS you won't have any problems except losing the memory systems described by the others, and the ECU will be reset (no big deal). If it's cold in your area any car can have starting problems if left for days. Sometimes batteries just die randomly. Changing it is a simple swap. I've got a DieHard Gold. It has started up even on the coldest days here in MN. Yesterday it was around -10 and it still started.
VBdenny Posted December 25, 2004 Author Posted December 25, 2004 I went out yesterday morning and noticed a slight decrease in initial cranking speed. I will go over to Costco tomorrow and get a new battery.
HRP Posted December 26, 2004 Posted December 26, 2004 Most places that sell replacement batteries will install them at no additional charge. Just watch, and tip, especially if it is cold and wet.
