Lx450 - Removing Running Boards ?

I have just purchased a 1997 LX450. I have ordered the Lexus factory service manual but it has not yet arrived. Has anyone removed their running boards and NOT installed rock sliders? If so, how did you blend in the bottoms of mudflaps? Or, are rock sliders the only way to go?

The only way to blend the front flare is to get a pair of Land Cruiser flares -- model years 93 through 97 will work.

There is no cap, per se.

You can leave the flaps long or trim the bottom length of the flaps to turn them into caps.

The color might not match, if that's important to you -- the mudflaps are black.
