I removed my rear passenger window to apply tint and after reassembling the door my window will no longer stay up when I use the auto up feature. It rolls back down just under halfway as if it thinks something is blocking it. Please any advice would be extremely helpful!

CoPilot:

Sounds like your Lexus’s jam protection feature is kicking in—basically, the car thinks something is obstructing the window, so it rolls it back down to avoid pinching. This often happens after tinting or reassembly when the window regulator or run channel isn’t perfectly aligned.

Here’s what you can try:

  1. Reset the window auto-up memory:
    • Roll the window all the way down.
    • Hold the switch in the down position for 4–5 seconds.
    • Then roll it all the way up and hold the switch in the up position for another 4–5 seconds.
    • This helps the system relearn the window’s full range of motion.
  2. Lubricate the window channels:
    • Use a silicone-based spray to lightly lubricate the rubber run channels on both sides of the glass. If there’s too much resistance, the system might falsely detect an obstruction.
  3. Check the alignment:
  • If the glass isn’t seated properly in the regulator or the track is slightly off, it can trigger the sensor. You might need to remove the door panel again and inspect the regulator arms and mounting points.

Thank you very much! I will give these a try and post an update. This is definitely some of the better information I have gotten in how to fix this issue!
