Edmund Wilis Posted June 9 Posted June 9 Help! I have a 1993 Lexus LS 400. Recently the battery discharged while parked, my son not that experienced called a friend for a jump off the cables were hooked up backwards. the car will crank & run but the power steering, radio wipers power windows, seats do not work. door panels lights work along with chime. I replaced blown fusabile links & fuses. Has anyone had this happen, how bad is my car screwed?
Jeremy M. Posted June 9 Posted June 9 There's no real telling what's been damaged by the battery being hooked up wrong. The best thing to do is to check each individual system and trace down the cause of the issue, rather than look for a single smoking gun. The power steering is a purely mechanical system, so that issue is entirely unrelated to the electrical issues you're having, but the power windows, wipers, radio, and seats are likely all tied into the BCM (body control module). If you haven't already, check any relays associated with those items, and be certain to check both the fuses in the engine bay and the interior fuse panel. 1
