Ucf10 Ls400 Running rich/misfiring

hello! I recently just bought a 1994 ls400 upon driving it around one day I noticed it started to smoke so when I jacked it up it was idling rough like it was sort of cammed as well as shooting flames out the exhaust with a cherried catalytic converter it idles around 500-700 normally can anyone point me in the right direction?

The flames and glowing catalytic converter means you are running rich and/or misfiring. I believe another member on the forum recently had a similar issue, and they discovered their distributor rotor was broken. I would start there, and check spark on all 8 cylinders. If that doesn't lead to any discoveries, you can start checking for leaking fuel injectors or sensors misreading values
