I took my 2024 GX 550 in for a first oil change at a local Lexus dealership.   I checked the oil level a couple of days after the oil & filter change.   I waited 5 minutes after shutting down the up to temp engine.      The dip stick had splashes/segments of oil all over the first foot of dipstick.   This is my first experience trying to read the level with hot 0-W-20 oil, which is very clear and thin. I found it difficult to say what the oil level was and wound up letting the truck sit four about four  hours.   After using a hand pump to pump out one quart, four ounces of oil (36 ounces) I checked the level once again and it appears the it is still  about another half-quart of oil above the max fill mark.    So apparently the vehicle was overfilled by 1.5+ quarts of oil, which could have caused blown seals or aerated the oil.   My conclusion is that reading the oil level is best done with the engine cold and with time for oil to drain out of oil stick tube.  Measuring the oil cold (60 degrees F) will make the oil level appear something like 1/8" lower than measured hot per Lexus.  I'm guessing the overfill was causing splashing of oil onto dipstick making it impossible to read.

Anyone else wind up with a large overfill at a Lexus dealership?
