Can anyone explain why my 2020 Lexus NX300h gets about 32 mpg on the highway but only 27-28 in city driving?  I drive about 70 mph on the highway but have a light foot in city driving.

This is normal and not too bad TBO.

Stop and go in the city no matter how light your foot is costs MPG. It is easier to keep something already moving than it is to get it going repeatedly from a dead stop.

Crap on a cracker, even the posted mileages from the maker show lower city mileage than highway. Were you just bored or are you trolling to see if you can get a rise.

Always nice to have new members but you need to do better than this for participation.

Actually Lexus posts greater mileage for city driving as do all hybrid car manufacturers.  That was why I posted the question.

Thanks for the reply.  But my car is a hybrid which are supposed to get better mileage in city driving.

Yeah... "Supposed to" technology hasn't eclipsed physics yet...

Plus their lab "city" is nothing like reality.

You're doing great with mileage. Keep it up and enjoy.

I am puzzled by how poor the milage rating is for the NX300h vs. the NX350h.

MPG for the 350h is 37 highway / 41 city. Mine gets that MPG easily.  My ES300h did even better.  Only exception is for cold days and short trips under a mile or so.

When I power down the 2025 350h, It posts the MPG, distance, time traveled and % of  efficiency for the last trip. It holds that display until I open the door.  To get overall average data since last fill, you can get that off the center monitor.

% of efficiency depends on many things: was the drive battery discharged and it had to be charged while driving, keeping the engine running longer.

Outside temp is another.  Too hot or too cold causes more A/C and quicker heat up if cold resulting in longer choke and run cycle.

Whether on not you are using regenerative braking or slamming on the brakes at lights.

Tire inflation pressure.

Conclusion:   It all depends, but all my hybrids maintained rated MPG as advertised.
