Hello Lexus folks - I have a 2019 RX350L that I bought last summer with about 82,000 miles on it. I bought it from a Lexus dealer, so had just been through their certified pre-owned program, or whatever they call that, including new tires. I've driven it about 5,000 since then and it is now giving me a "maintenance required" message on the dash display. Note that there are no known problems and the car runs beautifully. No doubt it's due for an oil change, but when I called the dealer, they started talking about their standard 90,000 mile service for almost $700. Now I have to stop and think about this. I'm sure there's no down side to having that done (apart from possibly spending more money than is necessary), but I can't help but wonder how much really needs to be done. One thing I know about these standard service packages is that they frequently including a lot of "check this" and "check that", and also items that I can likely do myself, such as wipers or cabin air filter. What has your experience been?  Thanks for any comments.

The standard 90,000-mile service for a 2019 Lexus RX350L typically includes inspections and replacements such as:

  • Oil and filter change

  • Transmission fluid check

  • Brake system inspection

  • Engine air filter and cabin air filter replacement

  • Tire rotation and tread depth check

  • Coolant and other fluid inspections

  • Battery check (including smart key battery)

  • Drive belt inspection

  • Fuel system and exhaust system check

You're absolutely right that some of these tasks—like replacing wipers or cabin air filters—can be done yourself for much less. If your RX350L is running smoothly and you haven't noticed any issues, you might consider asking the dealer for a breakdown of the service to see if you can skip certain inspections or handle them independently.

Find out how to shut the maintenance message off.  I found how to do that on my 2017 4 runner, and keep good track of what services need to be done.  I really dislike a service or sales member coming up and pointing out additional items needed when I light or read out comes up.. I once had a dealer report my mileage to the insurance company.  I sure hope for their sake my new dealer does not do this. LOL

Hello - I am sorry for the long delay - but thank you  for this response. I appreciate it very much. I think what I'm going to do right now is to get an oil change. After that I'll look at the list provided by Dave above and work on some of that. Thanks again
