19NX300h Posted March 19 Posted March 19 I have created several DVDs loaded with 4gig of music, MP3s. I have tried several ways of creating the disc and every time the player will only read the first half. Any ideas on how to get the DVD player to read all 4 gig of data?
Kaceealpha Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Your DVD player can read CD’s which are compatible with various music files. I would start there instead of using a DVDR disc

If you have not finished (ended the burning of RW discs) the disk that could happen. The built-in burner in Windows is not good. If you use Windows in your computer, try downloading “BurnAware” or another burning program; “VLC” is free and good. Do not know much about Mac computers. Overpriced and under-equipped. Only good looking. In Linux distros just search for burning software. Lots of good ones, depending on which distro you are using. “VLC” is also there.

So I will stick with the DVD, but I wan it to see the entire disc. Thank you for pondering this with me!

I will check on BurnAware and see if it makes a difference. Something new to try. Thank you! BTW, I'm with you on you Mac thoughts. I tried Linux for awhile but I needed to go back to full functionality. 1

I tried Linux for awhile but I needed to go back to full functionality. I use dbPoweramp’s Music Converter to make M4A or MP4 audio files. 512Kbps, better than the 320 possible in MP3 and burn them as data on a 4.7Gb DVD. Gives me plenty of music for daily use. 3 – 4 discs give music enough to drive from southern Spain to northern Denmark. VLC can burn data files and so can Burnaware. If you want to try Linux again; I use Pop-Os!, almost beginner-friendly. Zorin is very beginner friendly and easy to install. For a very old computer with little RAM and slow CPU there is Q4OS which can install on 15 years or older computers that used to be on Windows XP and still be able to do what Windows 10 can. Come October support for Windows 10 will be gone and Windows 11 is a terrible monster. Spying and trying to get all user data so it could be thought that Microsoft is more interested in user data than in making privacy focused operation systems for computers. Want users to be on AI where nobody really know where the data given there end up.
19NX300h Posted March 21 Author Posted March 21 I thank everyone who has made suggestions. I am burning 3.9gb of MP3 files to a 4.7gb DVD+R disc. I am using Windows 11, two different DVD burners. I have burned the MP3 files with Windows Media Player, the Win11 DVD driver, and BurnAware software. All three have made data DVDs that can be read by any computer. They all work fine on a computer, but the Lexus DVD player will only see half of the DVD files, or about 2gb of the 3.9gb on the disc. I'm stumped.
