Dio01 Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Hello everyone I’m quite stumped on this issue. I’ve looked everywhere and haven’t found a similar issue to mine. Whenever I go over a sudden bump at normal-moderate speeds, a loud pop noise comes from the drivers side, and sometimes seems to come from the passenger side. Sometimes it happens when there is a large dip in the road, or sometimes it happens over speed bumps. It always happens if I’m going over a an intersection that is raised, and then drops back down. Seems to be whenever the suspension travels really far down but it doesn’t feel like anything is bottoming out or stopping suddenly, it’s just a loud pop. I’ve had this car about 6 months and haven’t heard it at all until about a month ago. Car has 122,000 miles about and otherwise has no problems. I replaced the end links, but that didn’t fix the problem. Everything else is very solid and I can’t recreate the sound at all under the car and some suspension parts are quite new. Sway bar bushings are tight and don’t make noise as well. I have attached a video of the sound. I really need help in this one 😕 IMG_0734.mov
mikaelse Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Sound like it could be these rubber bushing At the end of this arm 48670-40011 They are known to fail first I have exchanged these on two LS400 and they where clunking going over rough patches slow. And when even worse they gave brake vibrations at speed. When manipulated they felt sort of OK but I got a tip they were the culprit and they were. I got hold of new OEM bushing in USA for 37US$ each. Back in 2017. I you live in a rustbelt getting the bolts out can be a job... It was on one a few of the bolts. Needed to cut them and buy new.
Dio01 Posted March 7 Author Posted March 7 Thanks so much for the feedback! I’ll see if this is the problem!
Dio01 Posted March 26 Author Posted March 26 Alright I know it’s been a while since I spoke last here. The bushings Mika recommended to replace are both new on my car and OEM. The sway bar bushings are installed and the noise is still being made. I don’t think it’s my struts, the sounds seems to be coming almost from the center of the car in the front but more on the driver side. Last week the noise went away completely for about an hour and I couldn’t get it to make the noise (which is usually extremely easy to replicate) but now it’s back. Sometimes it’s loud and sometimes it’s very quiet. It is bothering me so bad IMG_1148.mov
