I’m brand new to this club and to the Lexus Brand (which so far has been less than stellar).  In any case my RX350’s steering wheel is about 2/3’s wood accent that does not heat up when I engage the heated steering wheel.  I live in Wisconsin and always wanted a heated steering wheel however this one is basically useless.  Where the wood trim is on the steering wheel it stays freezing cold so I am wondering if anyone else has the same issue and if so have you tried putting a steering wheel cover on?  If so did it help or is it not a good idea to put a cover on a heated steering wheel?  Any advice would be so much appreciated.  Thank you!

Welcome, Annie.

It's not uncommon for heated steering wheels with wood accents to have issues with uneven heating. The wood trim can act as an insulator, preventing the heat from reaching the surface effectively.

Using a steering wheel cover might help, but it's important to choose one that is compatible with heated steering wheels. Look for covers made from materials like leather or neoprene, as they allow heat to penetrate effectively. Make sure the cover fits snugly without bunching or slipping.

Alternatively, you might want to check with a Lexus dealer to see if there's an underlying issue with the heating element or wiring that could be causing the problem.

Have you considered reaching out to Lexus customer support for assistance?

I too own a 2024 RX 350 and yes, the steering wheel does not heat up in the areas of the wood. That caught me early on, being that I came from a 2022 Acura RDX where the whole leather steering wheel heated up evenly. In fact that Acura steering wheel heated up almost hot within the first 10 seconds.....it was amazing. I am in SoCal where it is no where near as cold as where you are. Unfortunately, it is something we will have to live with. But the car has so many other luxury features which still make it an awesome car to own.

There's no issue with the steering wheel heat.  It's not designed to heat up the "wood accent" portion.  It heats roughly 9 O'clock and 3 O'clock position, by design.

True. And that is where I place my hands. It works for me as here in SoCal, due to our winters not being as cold as the states north and east of us (I could never live in those states 😎). A 65 degree day here, like today, is uncomfortably cold.

Yup! I have a small comfort window........anything below 70 is too cold, anything above 79 is too hot. I hate summers and I hate winters. 🥵🥶
