PineIslandPorsche Posted January 7 Posted January 7 I have a 2008 GX470 with 195,000 miles and I recently began to experience some transmission problems. We live in warm sunny South Florida so its warm. After running perfectly for 195,000 miles one morning 2 weeks ago the GX wouldn't shift out of 1st gear. No CEL or any other warning lights, just no shift. It sat for a day and when I went to take it to my local indy repair facility it ran perfectly, shifted perfectly. Before taking it in I scanned it myself and the ECM had logged codes P2714 pressure solenoid "D" performance or stuck off and code P0894 transmission component slipping. I asked the indy who is quite reliable and reasonable to scan it and since it was working as normal please do a fluid/filter replacement. They claimed to not find any codes and due to the age they didn't want to service it as they were sure it would fail shortly thereafter. Mind you they've serviced this truck for the last 5 years. Since visiting the shop it runs and shifts normally except in the morning after sitting overnight. In the morning when you start the GX and shift it from Park to Drive it lurches forward and then drives normally. Besides finding another shop to service it, does anyone have any wisdom they'd like to share as I try to solve this problem? This truck is mostly pristine and reliable enough to drive to California tomorrow if I needed to.
RX400h Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Quote Here are a few steps you can consider to help diagnose and potentially resolve the issue: Check Transmission Fluid: Ensure the transmission fluid is at the correct level and in good condition. Low or dirty fluid can cause shifting problems. If it's dirty, consider having it flushed and replaced. Inspect Wiring and Connectors: Look for any damaged or corroded wiring and connectors related to the transmission. Faulty connections can cause intermittent issues. Pressure Control Solenoid “D”: The P2714 code indicates an issue with the pressure control solenoid “D”. This solenoid controls the flow of hydraulic fluid in the transmission. If it's malfunctioning or stuck, it could cause shifting problems. Transmission Component Slipping: The P0894 code suggests that an internal transmission component is slipping. This could be due to worn friction material on clutch discs or other internal mechanical issues. Consult a Specialist: Given the complexity of transmission issues, it might be best to consult a transmission specialist or a dealership with experience in Lexus vehicles. They can perform a thorough diagnostic and recommend the appropriate repairs. It's great that the vehicle runs well after sitting overnight, but addressing these issues sooner rather than later can help prevent further damage.
