cesar034 Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 First time posting. I have read through most threads on no start issue and no solution has helped me solve my issue, I am now at the verge of selling the car as is! My car was running perfectly fine the day before when I took it out to the canyon, did have a boil over when k attempted drifting haha anyways, next day the car had trouble starting but eventually started after holding the rpm’s at 1500 for about 30sec. Drove around all day with no issue at all starting. Following day, no start at all. Just cranking. Confirmed there is spark by throwing starter fluid in intake and it turns on for just a couple of seconds then dies. Assumed fuel pump was dead so I directly ran 12V to fuel pump and it flowed fuel, fuel pump is good. switched out fuel pump relay, still no start. switched out open circuit relay and efi relay, still no start. I swapped the ECU for a known working ecu and still no start. I proved the fuel pump connector and read 10.46V when trying to crank the car on. So I assumed there is a resistance somewhere. I probe the fuse box terminals where the relay sits, same 10.46V. Probe the fuel pump resistor and its reading .6 Ohms which is within oem spec. The connector on the resistor is also reading 10.46V. I really don’t know what else to check if anyone can help. I’m at the verge of selling or junking this car, only reason I am trying it’s because it’s manual swapped and don’t want to buy another hahha also battery is new and alternator is fine. Any help would be much appreciated
Jeremy M. Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Your battery voltage will normally drop while cranking, and 10.5V doesn't sound extraordinarily low to me. You can check directly at the battery terminals while cranking, and if it is within about 0.5V-1V difference, you're perfectly fine. If applicable to your year model, I would check your immobilizer, as some immobilizers function by cutting signal to the injectors. Also check fuses for the fuel system, ECM, and injectors, as any of those will cause a loss of fuel like you described (only running on starter fluid). It's also necessary to check not only fuel flow, but fuel pressure. You could have a fuel pump going out, and if it isn't outputting enough pressure, the car won't start. (Also dummy-check yourself and make sure that your fuel is good (no contamination in the fuel e.g. water, diesel, anything. Cycle the fuel pump with the fuel line routed to a container to drain the tank if you have any doubts) Anything beyond that, I'm afraid there's little I can do through a screen to troubleshoot your car's gremlins through a computer screen 🙃
