Arcsound Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 My FiL has a 2021 ES-250 with 27K miles, and after a recent gas fill up, seems to be stuck at the FULL level. Has anyone else had this problem? The gauge moves to the bottom when the car is shut off, so I doubt it is the gauge, but is there a dash diagnostic function or mode that I can use to confirm it is not the gauge? My guess would be a bad sending unit, but given the age and mileage of the car, I would be surprised. Any thoughts?
Dean2 Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 I would think that car is still on Warranty. There are half a dozen potential reasons and the scanner to track them down is FAR from cheap, assuming you have no codes as you don't mention any. Why wouldn't he just take it to the dealer rather than chase the guess where Waldo is that are internet help forums.
Arcsound Posted November 30, 2024 Author Posted November 30, 2024 (edited) Yes, that was my first suggestion, see if it is still under warranty, but since the Lexus warranty is 3/36 and he took delivery in March of 2021, it likely ended in March of 2024 for a non-power train issue. Still, worth asking the dealer, for sure. I found that when something happens to me, it is a common problem, so just wondering what other ES-250 (350) owners have experienced wrt fuel level issues. Dean2 Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Still cheaper to pay the dealer than buy the software.

My 2021 ES 350 Basic warranty is 4 yr - 50k miles, is your ES 250 different at 3yr 36k you state? Recheck your Warranty booklet again.

Thanks!
Dean2 Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Good deal!!! Let us know what it turns out to be please.

Arcsound Posted December 13, 2024 Author Posted December 13, 2024 So, FiL brought the car to the dealer, and they said that there is nothing wrong with the gauge, it can happen when the tank is topped up when the level is still quite high (1-4 gallons). Apparently working now. Weird. Thanks for responses and help!
Dean2 Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 Tell your dad that once the nozzle clicks off, do NOT add any more gas. Ovefilling modern tanks can cause all sorts of very expensive issues. Glad they got it figured out.
