Squeaks in convertible tops can be quite annoying, but there are a few steps you can take to address the issue:

  1. Lubricate the Seals: Use a silicone-based lubricant on the rubber seals around the convertible top. This can help reduce friction and eliminate squeaks.

  2. Check for Loose Parts: Inspect the convertible top mechanism for any loose or worn parts. Tighten any loose screws or bolts you find.

  3. Clean the Seals: Dirt and debris can cause squeaking. Clean the seals with a mild soap and water solution, then dry them thoroughly before applying lubricant1.

  4. Adjust the Top: Sometimes, the top may need minor adjustments to ensure it fits snugly. This might require a visit to a professional if you’re not comfortable doing it yourself.

  5. Inspect for Obstructions: Make sure there are no obstructions in the roof mechanism that could be causing the noise.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it might be worth consulting a professional mechanic who specializes in convertible tops. They can provide a more thorough inspection and repair if needed.

Have you tried any of these steps before?
