A.O. Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Ok, I have a 2004, before I bought it the previous owner changed the Radio out for a nice Pioneer with all the goodies, back up cam, car play, Sirius ready, Bluetooth, bla bla bla BUT, the nav door doesn't function. The nav unit is in there, I pushed the door up part way to see, it has a 2013 disc in the unit in the trunk, no Idea if it works and not sure I care. I have nave through my phone that works through the radio. I really want to get that door operational and to see what works and what doesn't. Seems all the buttons on the top of the climate control are dead, I did pull it out and all the plugs back there are plugged in, so that's ok I guess but it still doesn't seem to be getting power. I have a full set of Lexus shop manuals but I can't find any reference as to the nav door or power to those buttons! Anyone have any idea on where to start?
Frank DUva Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Have you checked the fuses? Did the previous owner install a back-up cam? Does the nav screen work? Maybe they removed the plug for the nav screen to install the Pioneer stereo unit. There seems to be a few possibilities.

The only fuse I could find that had anything to do with it was listed as "Tv/navigation" and I think it was #29 in the passenger side kick panel and that 5amp fuse was fine. Yes there is a backup cam. I pulled the climate control out and all plugs were there and plugged in. No as far as I know the nav screen doesn't work, seems like all the buttons on top of the climate control are dead. Is there another plug somewhere that I'm missing? Or a different fuse?

Frank DUva Posted February 17 Posted February 17 You probably should check electrical connectors for power going into the unit, and continuity for the switches. Or, you could gamble and replace the unit, but they go for $300-$700 on e-bay.
Frank DUva Posted February 17 Posted February 17 If you have the manuals, you can check the diagnosis chapter for the connectors pin locations, and purpose.
A.O. Posted February 17 Author Posted February 17 I'm thinking the unit is probably fine, something was done putting the new radio in would be my guess. And I have a full set of manuals, and they are more confusing than all the wiring behind the radio!!!!
Frank DUva Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Yes, that's definitely a good possibility. I repaired my stereo cover and when I finished, my HVAC unit did not work, nor the top. No light, no nothing. I took the unit out again and to my relief, had found I didn't push two connectors in all the way. I have no other suggestions, hope you sort it out.
