Recommended Posts

hi, am new here. i am considering to purchase a 92 sc300 with 100k on it. the person is asking 6,500 for it.

things wrong with it:

1-timing belt needs to be replaced

2-gauge cluster has lighting and accuracy problems

3-needs new valve cover gasket

and thats about it. the body and the interior is good. do you guys think is is ok for the car. i mean the kbb value is right on for what he is asking. tell me about your experience with it.

thanks for your reply.

In my personal opinion, it depends on the area I guess, and how available an SC300 is around there. With what needs done, and the mileage, I wouldn't pay the asking price for it. Timing Belt can be a pricey item, depending on where you have it done. Same with the Valve Cover Gasket. As for the Cluster, I really don't know exactly what is wrong with it, so I can't say how much that would cost.

Although his asking price isn't too far off, I think it's a tad much.

Just my .02

as for the leaky valve covers . i have a 92 sc400 that had leaky valve covers and all i did was tighten the bolts a little and the leak stopped. try that first.
