A Dilemma At 210k Miles

Hi, I guess I am not alone on this.

Well, first of all...I love my 95 SC400 so much.

Then as much I love it and as much I am willing to put more upgrades, I get to thinking that "shall I rather put the investment on a newer machine?"

Now that my SC400 is already over 210K miles on it, it might not seem justfiable to upgrade the wheels/tires, arms, brakes, exhaust, shocks, and engine performance.

Oh, the color too!

Would it make more sense to get an SC400 under 100K miles (perhaps 97 or newer with nice color) and start building the upgrades on it?

Well, money matters alot, but please share your 2 cents.

bwy, how long doesl the motor last? mine runs fine except louder noise (compared to when it was younger) and AC related power loss.

Thanks,

I guess newer is cool. As long as its an SC400. I believe it still makes the top ten list of the best production cars ever built. I've driven a lot of newer cars that just feel like *BLEEP*. The next model I move to will be an SC430... in the year 2010..lol

If you go with a newer SC why not try a '98 where you get the 5 speed auto and VVT 290 hp engine which are the only significant upgrades from the original in my opinion. If you keep your older car, try putting in a can of RESTORE and using mobil one on your next oil change and it should even out your compression unless you have a major problem. Otherwise, if it ain't broke why fix it?

Thanks all for your input.

It seems that the 98 model will be the natural upgrade path.

Now I need to start saving some fund for it!

Until then, I will use the RESTORE and Mobile1 as SCdriver recommended.

It's always happy to dream for a new (or newer) car.
