BlurrySC300 Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 I've been thinking about relocating my batter to the trunk. The only problem is, I have no idea what I would need to do. HAHA! Any advice or suggestions?
JDOwen2 Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Get a new battery box and some longer battery cables. Drill some holes in your trunk floor. Secure box in trunk. (Optima makes some neat batteries, you can mount them in any position). Run new cables to new location. Sounds simple but you'll have to secure the new cables alongside the frame with insulated clamps. Also make sure the new battery box is bolted down securely. Need to vent the box also.
bean_8044 Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Jegs or Summit Racing sells complete kits for around $60-70. Comes with the container, tie-down straps and all cables.
zerozero Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 just curious but why would u wanna do that? weight transfer. battery is about ~60lbs... put it over right rear tire to help traction.
BlurrySC300 Posted August 30, 2004 Author Posted August 30, 2004 Thanks for the info guys...as always, y'all pull through
Calvin L Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 yea, you could have some extra space by removing the cd changer and/or amp. this may not seem to practical, but for people who are major weight junkies, it is a really good idea as the front of the SC is freaking heavy.
Theodore Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 i have about 100 punds extra in the trunk between amps, subs cd changer, and custom panels to keep everything up. Some time si wish i never did all that.
