Driver Door

Hi Guys,

I have a problem with the driver's door in that if I use the key and open it the alarm goes off. I have to unlock from the passenger side. Any ideas?

I've never had the alarm go off using either the key or the remote? I really wasn't sure this car even had an alarm other than the blinking LED

As soon as I turn the key on the driver door it goes off then I have to go to the passenger door with the key and turn and it goes off.

Sorry, that is confusing. What I meant to say is that the alarm comes on at the driver's side with the key turned and can only be turned off at the passenger door with the key turned.

There is some kind of electronic sensor inside the lockwork that "reads" your key when you insert it and deactivates the alarm. These get worn out with time, so the doors are unlocked with the key, but the alarm is not deactivated, thats why it goes off. You will have to use your lock/unlock button on the key or keep opening the door from the passenger side until you get that sensor worn also, and then you will have to replace the complete lockwork, I guess expensive but really dont know for sure.

Thanks for the info. The lock appears to be loose, so I guess I'll have to go in from the panel.
