49mpg Current Fuel Consumption Reading On A 99ls40

I just noticed that the Mode that displays the current fuel consumption in my 99 LS400 is faulty, it shows Readings as High as 5mpg down to 49mpg ( I wish).

Does anyone have the slightest clue as to what needs to be replaced and what it might cost?

All the other modes work perfectly.

Average gas Consumption

Sounds to me like it's working the way it should. If you're on the throttle hard the mpg should go down real low. If you lift your foot of the gas and coast it should go way up.

What does it show with the cruise control on?

agreed, it is working fine. When that is displayed, it is showing you the exact mpg you are getting at that instant. I got mine to go as high as 99 mpg once...now that's really dreaming.

I never leave it on this display. I always leave mine on the miles to empty (atually miles to 2 gallons) display.
