bezee
I took my car to the dealer for a diagnostic test and i was told my rear differential was leaking and they want $432 to fix it. I looked under to see if i could see the leak and i can see that the case is wet. Is there a way to fix the seals ?Because i really dont have the $432 the dealer wants so im lookin for an alternative fix that i could have my mechanic do. Any suggestions??? johnny3
Any auto-mechanic can replace the differential seal, very straight-forward simple job.
bezee
So most likely its the differential seal that's causing the leak?
bean_8044
The only other likely thing is if the gas tank is leaking onto the diff or the diff has a hole in it. Otherwise, you could replace the gasket. Just take off the cover, scrape the gasket off the diff, put a new gasket on the cover, tighten down the cover. Done
