cosmicfireball
Picked up my SC300,obsessively maintained 80,000miles,and the original owner informed me that whenever he used 'regular' oil he would 'lose' a quart of oil between changes. Then he switched to synthetic oil and the oil level was not reduced between changes. Had the oil changed before a long hard drive and used a hybred oil...part synthetic/part petroleum(I don't recall the brand designation). I'm approaching 3,000 miles and note the oil is down about 3/4 of a quart. There didn't appear to be any oil leaks. Would anyone advise? Thanks
jzz30
it is normal for an engine to burn oil while running thats why you should check your oil level from time to time. and if it bothers you and you find that with synthetic there is little oil consumption then you should use synthetic. cosmicfireball
It would be easy to accept a fact of an auto burning oil such that it should be checked 'from time to time'...no problem whatsoever...however,I've had many cars that never 'burned' oil between changes......
