Shift Cylanoid Malfunction

Recommended Posts

I bought a 96 ES300 w/ 119,000 miles 2 months ago - a super clean car. In

checking the car's history, I called the Lexus Service manager who had previously

serviced the car. He said that the CEL display recently showed "shift cylanoid

malfunction" and to monitor it. I got a couple of CELs, but they went away when

I filled the gas tank. I'm unsophisticated mechanically. How significant is this?

What's the worst case scenario?
