Werid Noise In Engine Bay After Car Is Off

Ok, this will make me sound like a nut but here goes nothing. I am often under my car working on it and what not and i am confronted with a very unusual noise. The noise is reppetitive every 5 min or so and it sounds like a gentle pooting noise..........................................ok ok ok are you done laughing now? This noise only last for literaly half a sec. and it is absolutely driving my crazy. I have tried to locate it but the noise is so barely audible i cant pinpoint the culprit. I do know this noise exists in my car and i was wondering if anybody had this same noise in thier engine bay, especially if it is a sc400. FYI mine is a 92.
