92ES300 Posted June 8, 2003 Author Posted June 8, 2003 I did not have anything else to use to pry off the vent, so I used the flat head. And yeah, when I first started prying, the vinyl was getting little dents in it, but then it just regained its form , and now there is no problems. Everything looks fine. The other tool is probably safer though.
SKperformance Posted June 9, 2003 Posted June 9, 2003 hey 92 as long as you have the patience and hand eye co ordination which you must then perfect atleast you did get it out ok i also used a flat head the first time i had no idea on how the damn thing came out and i spent ages looking at it even with the lexus manual i was erally scared as my car was only 3 years old then pertty new to me then
lex Posted June 9, 2003 Posted June 9, 2003 SK, are these the tools you talking about? Just the last one in that pic is all I need? http://www.kd-tools.com/61053.htm
lex Posted June 9, 2003 Posted June 9, 2003 Turns out that the vent is actually really easy to take out. Instead of the prying from the sides. There are two plastic stoppers at the top of the vent about an inch from the sides. So if you just stick in a stiff shim/screwdriver and push them down, the vent slides right out. Found that out accidentally after trying the sides for a long time and no being able to get it out.
lex Posted June 9, 2003 Posted June 9, 2003 Still have to breakoff the metal clips at the bottom of the vent tho.
SKperformance Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 yah the second form the bottom is the one i have sort of it helps in many other things as well for all those stupid clips for removing anyother trim
