dwoloz
Hi guys Im in the process of buying a new car Ive narrowed it down to either a 6th gen Celica or a SC300. Im heavily leaning towards the SC300 since it isnt too much more expensive and its a night and day difference performance wise compared to the Celica I've built a computer system for my car using a LCD display that provides navigation assistance and MP3 playback. A deciding factor for me getting a car is the availability of a prime location to embed my LCD The SC300 doesnt seem to have a standard double DIN setup so Im concerned about the potential to put a LCD in. I would appreciate it if someone could post some pictures of the stock stereo removed or pictures with an aftermarket head unit or even pictures of an installed LCD Thanks
blueviol
I would still get that SC300 even if the LCD doesn't fit...^^ just kidding... (just trying to say Celica and SC300 are in different league!) As for your stereo-related interest, check out the following site: http://www.carstereohelp.com/strlexus.htm

blueviol
Could you share the carputer information, such as what hardware and software are out there? I got to start looking into this thing. Thanks,
dwoloz
Sure :) Im using a VIA Epia M10000 motherboard with embedded CPU Its a very low power solution so its very appealing for automotive use Im using a Opus 150w DC-DC PSU. This is a specially designed PSU for automotive application. It will automatically power on your computer when the 12v accessory line gets power and powers down your system at a specified delay after the 12v accesory line loses power For LCD Im using a Lilliput 7" widescreen VGA touchscreen. For software there are several frontend programs that let you operate GPS, MP3s and other programs from a touchscreen friendly interface. I use a program called MediaCar. Its skinnable so you can make it look however you want I got all of my information from the good guys over at mp3car.com Tons of info there Also, is there a wiring harness adapter sold anywhere? southernsc300
Audi Carputer the Audi carputer is so far the best i have EVER seen installed. im sure there are good ones floating around that i havent found though. no i did not make my own plastic piece, but for the carputer i will. xenarc makes a 7" touchscreen that should be able to fit. i know there are a few more brands out there but i will need to do a little more research
