95 Reliablity

Recommended Posts

well, my 95 SC400 is over 200K miles now and is closing in for 210K soon.

haven't seen much problem till now except usual replacement part wears.

they are, in my case, as follows:

1. power steering (be careful not to over steer beyond the limit when parking)

2. struts

3. water pump (part of major tune-up)

4. radiator (do 2-3 yr flush to prevent it from rusting)

5. major tune-ups

6. lights and led's (back lights, main gauge cluster, climate coltrol display, radio display)

7. stereo (cd changer, speakers, amp)

8. wear and colorization of head light housing

9. traction control (comes with engine check sign)

10. break calipers (clean the pistons when changing rotors or pads)

11. window control (up/down ...perhaps contact problem)

12. power leak due to AC wear (higher idle RPM)

^^ don't remember more...

oh, the rear wheel traction on snow or heavy rain is very very terrible.

once, i almost got myself killed from hydroplaning...did a 180-degree slowmo spinning on RT80.

take care~

I agree with the post...no major problems with 95 SC400 at 223K miles about 90% of maintenance items mentioned in the post above.

The maintenance is not that expensive if you take it to a good shop and not the dealer, At 120K I replaced timing belt, water pump, accessory belt, distributor/cap, plugs, and wires for about $1000 including OEM parts..ordered from parts.com..way cheaper than local dealer.
