Help with custom wheels

Recommended Posts

Hey, all

So, only because this was an issue with my last wheel and tire purchase than I do NOT wish to replicate... Im trying to get a set of replacement wheels for my 06 RX400h (the stockers cracked on a curb avoiding an accident) a friend of mine has a set of chrome wheels (same bolt pattern, 5x114.3) running 245/45/20. Ive seen a few members running such setups, and it seems that is usually works. However, the last vehicle the wheels were mounted to was a 2009 Mustang... this is telling me the offset might prevent proper fitment, right? It appears my factory 18s have a +35, and stock Mustang has a +45... Than again, the 20s are obviously not its stock wheels... Anyone know different? Id just do a quick test fit, but the wheels are about two hours away and dont wanna waste the fuel, and obviously my car is no shape to drive that far on cracked, bent wheels.

Thanks for the help!

According to tirerack.com, 20" wheels for your vehicle would require an offset of 35 - 38mm and a width of either 8 or 8.5 inches.

Besides, unless your 20 inch wheels are forged, you will may end up with much heavier wheels, resulting in reduced acceleration and longer stopping distances. In addition, your ride will be punishing with the lower profile tires you would need.

Tirerack has a great selection of wheels. You can probably find some that, at 18 or 19 " diameter, are lighter than the OEMs - making your RX even faster than it is now.
