cv2007
Hi, new member here. I am going to drain and refill the transmission fluid during my next oil change, but I can't find that transmission fluid dipstick. Where is it? Also, has anyone tried using anything other ATF Type T-IV? It's more expensive and it's recommended by the manual, but unless it's absolutely necessary I try to avoid trips to the dealership. Thanks in advance.

It's the orange dipstick at the top of the engine. Stand on the drivers side with the hood open and it is right next to the master cylinder for the brakes. Jim_Chow
It's the little red plastic topped dipstick at the rear of the V-bank cover next to the firewall. You MUST use the type of tranny fluid spec'd in the manual (and on the dipstick). For '03, it's type T-IV. For '04+, it's type WS. For earlier LX's, it's dextron II/III. They should not be mixed. LXPearl
Following up on Jim's remarks, the 04 and newer do not have a dipstick. Replacing it is similar to replacing the gear oils - underneath the vehicle. Ideally, you are supposed to let the dealer do it. The WS is a good product - synthetic ATF. I am using Mobil 1 ATF in my 2001 and like it.
OmarH
I did a transmission fluid exchange on my car. It might help. I used Redline D4.
