99 LX470

Purchased in 07 @ 100K miles.

Recently replaced three ignition coils.

Having a problem with my low beam bulbs. Since initial purchase the driver side bulb was blowing every two to three months. Noticed that the connector that plugs into the back of the bulb was melting. Connector is completely gone now and I can't find a replacement part. Is it considered the headlamp socket?

Help.

To melt it must be overheated right. What did your dealer say about this problem. Its quite surprising to know that no replacement parts are received. You need to take the advice of a dealer.

I have a 98 LX 470. When I drive it, it bounces alot on all type of roads. Not sure why or what to do. Please advise if any suggestions - Thanks.

If your LX-470 has adjustable height , the problem is the accumulators for each wheel shock are low/flat. Go to 'activesuspensionsystems.com' and read all about it and what to do. rolleyes.gif

LX470 AHC automatic Height Control.

I have the same suspension system problem as several others, including lexi98. The car rides like a buckboard; even though one is on the highway. The car will even tilt to one side. The car sits very low and the height will not come up to the "N" level and stays in the Low position. The "ACH OFF LIGHT" keeps flashing. Sometimes the car will come up a bit, but then goes back down. If the light says the car is in the "N" position, it is NOT. It is in the low position. The car does not come up even when one is at speed.

This suspension system failure is an "extreme safety hazard". These cars should be RECALLED before someone gets killed.

Just took out the ahc suspension and put in Strutmasters shocks and springs. I highly recommend doing this. You will find the diagnostic system for the electronic suspension is poor. Example: my front height sensor (300 bucks parts, 800 parts and labor installed) was not diagnosed until they tried to manually adjust the height control links for wheel alignment. The sensor is a potentiameter and if you know anything about those many times when they break they stop adjusting resistance...not an open circuit which is what the computer in the LX470 looks for. Engineering wise there is no real way around this so the LX470 is still a well engineer vehicle. Somethings require humans to get in there an check out....this is expensive and can lead you to replace a sensor 800 bucks then find out accumulators are bad well those are 650 each parts only and your LX470 has 4 of them.

Strutmasters all 4 shocks and springs cost me 530 at my door. Took me a weekend and I had to cut out the old hydraulic shocks because of rust, and took my time because I do not really know torsion bars until now. Ride quality is great. If you want a lift kit go with ome from slee (1,000) I was tight on money and only need factory ride height so i went strutmasters. The other kit from the other brand has a spring helper on the shock....that would mean less torsion bar adjustment but I have no idea how it would be in terms of ride quality.

I bought a 2007 LX 470 (55k miles) in 10/1/2010 for $38k. + $1k ipod controller.

My car now has 75k miles. My neighbor used to be a toyota repair technician (for 5 years). He is now a CNC technician and work on cars in the weekend.

My neighbor is a toyota member and get some killer discount on OEM toyota parts.

ON 9/1/13 I replaced 2 front rotors and pads, shims. $280 for parts, $200 for labor. Lexus wanted $700.

3/21/14 I have my car tuned up. sparkplus, belt, air controller: $192 for parts. $100 for labor.

My car has been pretty much perfection. Loving the ride now that new sparkplus kinda tranform it into a formular 1 racer :)

Anyone living in Connecticut tired of getting ripped off at the stealers, contact me. I'll hook you up with my neighbor.

《2004 LX470 131k miles》My first new car was a 94 Land Cruiser which I sold to a friend after a break in period of 125k miles. He still drives it daily. Second, a 2000 LX470, currently have an '04 LX470 with 131k miles (which I will drive as long as possible. Obviously, I am a big fan of the brand, but here are a few minor problems I have:

☆Many speakers have buzzing/blown sound.

☆Green ECT PWR light stays on constantly.

☆Levinson CD changer will only play CD'S in perfect condition anything else skips and stalls to the point I can't

listen to them.

☆Blue Mica paint peeling around side view mirrors.

I have a 2000 LX470 with 483,000 miles. I was getting a single click from my starter, and found some helpful DIY posts on the LC Forum on how to change out. Sounds like contacts are worn. I am mildly capable mechanically, and have little more than a standard Craftsman tool set at my disposal, but decided to take it on. I have removed the starter, and have a new one waiting at the parts store. In the daylight, I noticed that the seals around the fuel injectors looked a little aged, and figured a good idea to change them, as well as the Intake Manifold Gaskets. I have owned her since 100,000, and pretty sure (with exception of the Timing Belt) everything under the hood has been there since it left Japan.

My question to those who certainly know more than me are:

- While I am this far in, what else should I consider changing/cleaning? The inside, as well as outside of the Intake Manifold are filthy with a lot of buildup even down in the head/valve area.

- Are there sensors or other electronics that should be inspected or replaced.

2006 GX 470 Sticker was 56.000. I purchased in 2012 with 78000 miles am the 2nd owner, The vechicle was in above average condition All numbers matching all original glass except windshield.Well maintained, bought it from a Gentlemen and his wife for 24,000...As I took possession I immediately drove to auto parts store to replace stock air filter with KnN filter.I also relaxed the Hi and Low beam and fog bulbs with Sylvania .Iwas the first person ever to use the cigarette lighter, still none of the ash trays have ever been used..Mark Levinson stereo every thing worked,Leather was in excellent shape. The paint still to this day looks as good as it did when it was new,Could this have been sealed with something tr dealership?? MY paint looks better then some cars have its age..Rock Chips only few when purchased, but since I have owned the vehicle I have caused most of the chips in the paint. I changed all vehicle fluids to Amzoil tranny, transfer case, front and rear diff power steering flood . I put new brake pads all the way around,Yellow stuff EBC I think, most excellent for authoritative stopping power.Lots of brake dust though but its worth it, Just have to extra clean your wheels. I put a rear window mirror mount for my Escort Redline radar detector.First radar detector to save me from tickets, and I have had good one in the past.I tinted the windows with 5% all the way around with some special tint as not to interfere with any mobile communications. Just recently replaced suspension system with a, ICON stage 2 system 2 1/2 inch suspension lift with rear conversion to springs.Tire I replaced a couple oy years ago with Michelin AT 2s Getting excellent wear out of them..OPtium yellow top battery with gold 4 gauge post connectors...I had to replace alternator 130 amp earlier this year did myself, Had engine belt changed at 88000.After yellow stuff brake pads worn out replaced with Stop Tech discs and pads. Rotors are drilled and slotted, just recently put in another sets of EBC Yellowstuff pads .. front and back..5/30 oil in crankcase,Has 135000 as I write,, Gonna put on a hitch

I have a 2006 sc 430 with just over 43,000 miles. The car has always been garaged kept, it is clean inside and out. The question I have is  how to tweak the car back to run the way it did when it was newer. What happens to the car is it will hesitate and slug along from the traffic light. If you accelerate at a slow rate when taking off, it is normal. However, if you want to get on it, as soon as you push down the pedal, the engine stumbles all over itself. If you wait for a brief second, it usually recovers, but it can get embarrassing or dangerous. What I have done to overcome this is to " jiggle" the pedal (with my foot of course) and that seems to help. Any suggestions? Thanks

2006 Lexus LX470

Bought used on 2013

2 owners, purchased from Acura of Baton Rouge

85k miles

Regular PM work with AGCO Automotive in Baton Rougge, La

Problems: Just in the last few weeks had electrical problems, throwing codes, not starting. Replaced battery and still had problem. Repair shop changed the alternator and belt. Ran fine for a week. Then last night it would start and run for less than 2 seconds and shut itself down. Tried several times with different keys and still had this problem. Mechanic wonders if it has something to do with the security system. My wife is sure it's related to something to do with rain. It has started to act up the day after a rain and we drive it three times in the last 6 weeks. I'm at a loss. Anyone have these kind of "weird" problems even with a new battery and alternator? Can the security system malfunction and shut down the engine less than 2 seconds after start?

PM: Wife tried to start the Lexus this morning and it started and ran fine?????

I remember my friend had some big problems with gas light in LX570, then he sold it and got a new one in the lease from here: https://dsrleasing.com/car-listings/2017-lexus-lx-570-4wd-lease-969-mo/ and it was working like a charm. I saw a lot of people were having this problem in 2010 here.

1998 lx470, I just removed the hydraulic shock absorbers and replaced them with gas, the rear and front is riding way to low and the rear is bouncing a lot, my mechanic said that I just need to replace the rear spring with some stiffened ones, like the iron man. Will that help? And with a new spring, can I adjust the torsion bar to the correct height?

1996 LX-450

Purchased 3/22/02 from a used car lot in Virginia Beach with 81,538 miles on it

Now has 118,000 miles

No repairs yet, just routine maintenance when I remember it

Driven hard

Stuff

Some cool tail light guards I ordered from somewhere

Parrot CK3000 Bluetooth handsfree kit, an absolute must

Alpine amp and 12" sub added to factory system

SleeOffRoad replacement front bumper "in the mail" as I type

Most importantly: actual flip-out cupholder from SleeOffRoad

Maybe a suspension lift next...

Comments

Since I bought my LX-450 it has been driven from east coast to west coast and back again, survived a monster Dallas hail storm with not one ding (see my thread on this incredible story), dusted through Nevada desert heat with low coolant, and sat overnight in a frozen rest stop ditch in the Colorado mountains... and all the while it has never even flinched!

Some photos of my baby

 to the best vehicle I've ever owned

Do you still have this LX? Did the Alpine Amp replace the original amp in the system?
