Wondering what the opinion is on taking my RX300 to a Toyota Dealer instead of Lexus dealer for major service [Timing belt, etc].

The 3.0 V6 is a common motor for Lexus and Toyota. I'm sure the Toyota dealer would have no problem with this type of repair.

I had my timing belt and waterpump done at toyota, saved $500. the Toyota Hylander is just a knockoff of the RX300 so the dealership should have no problem. My toyota dealer even got the parts from the Lexus dealer, at the time they were not sure about the timing belt. However it is the same belt in the Hylander.

I've had our RX300 exclusively maintained by Toyota.

When it needed the transmission replaced, I took it to Lexus and they honored the fact that it was maintained by a Toyota dealership.
