I believe the device gets connected somewhere under the hood and provides a negative charge to the car thus preventing the oxidation process from occurring. Sounds reasonable, but I'm wondering if it justifies the price. Toyota charges $750 CDN and provides a lifetime warranty, alternatively, I can pick up the device from the local auto store and install it myself for $230 CDN. Any thoughts? I don't want to get the ERP from the dealer, it's clearly a ripoff, but I'm worried that if I get it done somewhere else it might mean my warranty if voided. Anyone else been through this? landar Posted May 13, 2014 Share Posted May 13, 2014 In Canada, Krown Rustproofing seems to be the prevailing choice for RP I do not have any experience with them but it is not a one-time deal. You need to go back year after year for true protection. Its a hundred buck or so each time. Myself, I use a product call "Fluid Film". It is not petroleum based so not toxic yet it works great.
