i will probably sound stupid for asking this but the high mount brake light bulb has burned out, the one at the top of the lift gate, how do i get that plastic piece off to change it without tearing it up?

this is on a 2000 rx 300, and i was also wondering is it possible to install the 2001 brake lights that have the chrome inside instead of the red? i think those look a lot cooler but i wasn't sure if the mounting brackets or even if the body is the same shape, im thinking the 2000 look a little bigger than the 2001

yes the new tail lamps from the 2001-03 would bolt right up with no mods.

To change any tail light on tailgate itself simply pull back plastic and felt cover (snaps hold it in place that can be asily snapped back on) then find your light and twist it to remove. To remove the tail lights not on the gate itself, simply look for two plastic covers over screws holding the cover in (they are inboard of the light assembly..and have a space for a regular head screwdriver to pry them out...and can be snapped back in when done)...hope this helps.
