anyone have experience with remote start alarm systems? I'm thinking about installing one in my car but I don't really have much information on them? What brands should I look into? Is installation very difficult? I can wire up car audio stuff and is alarm installation similar? any info will be greatly appreciated.

Car stereo systems are separate while an alarm an starter are much more integrated and better left to a pro who has the wiring schematics to do it right.

i recommend Clifford, Code Alarm, or Viper for a good car alarm. It could cost you a bit, but it's worth it.
